Terms & conditions
The terms for lessons with Safe Journey. Last updated September 2026.
The short version
- A lesson is booked once Hatifa has confirmed the day and time with you.
- Give 48 hours’ notice to cancel or rearrange without charge, except in emergencies.
- Late arrival doesn’t extend the lesson.
- Blocks are paid in advance and valid for 3 months. If you stop early, unused hours are refunded.
- If you book by phone, message or online, you can cancel within 14 days and get back what you’ve paid for lessons you haven’t had.

About these terms
These terms apply to driving lessons with Safe Journey Driving School (“Safe Journey”, “we”). Safe Journey is run by Hatifa Isaqzais, a self-employed driving instructor approved by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) — a fully qualified Green Badge ADI. You can contact her on +44 7578 614963 (phone or WhatsApp) or at hatifa.safejourney@gmail.com.
Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
Booking
- You can ask for a lesson using the Book a Lesson form, or by phone, WhatsApp or email. A request isn’t a booking: your lesson is booked once Hatifa has confirmed the day and time with you.
- Lessons are in an automatic car with dual controls, anywhere in the HA0–HA9 postcode area, Monday to Friday 9am–5pm and Saturday 9am–2pm. Pickup and drop-off within the area are included.
- Lessons are just you and Hatifa — no passengers.
What you need for every lesson
- A valid UK provisional or full driving licence. Hatifa will ask to see it before your first lesson.
- To meet the legal eyesight standard: you must be able to read a car number plate from 20 metres, wearing glasses or contact lenses if you need them — and wear them for every lesson.
- To be fit to drive: no alcohol or drugs, including medicines that make you drowsy.
- To tell Hatifa about any health condition or medication that could affect your driving, and to tell the DVLA if it’s a condition you have to report to them.
Hatifa can decline to start a lesson, or end one early, if any of these aren’t met or if carrying on wouldn’t be safe. If that happens, it’s treated the same as a lesson cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice. The car has dual controls, and Hatifa will use them whenever she needs to for safety.
Prices and paying
- Prices are on the Lessons & Pricing page. If a price changes, it doesn’t affect lessons you’ve already paid for.
- You can pay by cash or bank transfer. We don’t take card payments.
- Single lessons are paid on the day. Blocks of 5 or 10 hours are paid in full before the first lesson of the block. For test-day car use and intensive courses, Hatifa will agree with you when payment is due when you book.
- The DVSA’s test fee isn’t included in any of our prices — you pay it directly to the DVSA when you book your test.
Cancelling or rearranging a lesson
- With at least 48 hours’ notice before the lesson is due to start, you can cancel or rearrange it free of charge — just call, message or email Hatifa. If you’ve already paid for it, you can move it to another time or have that lesson refunded.
- With less than 48 hours’ notice, or if you miss a lesson without telling us, the lesson is charged in full — or, if it’s part of a block, the hours are taken from your block. This doesn’t apply in a genuine emergency.
- If you’re late, the lesson still finishes at its scheduled time.
- If Hatifa has to cancel — because of illness, bad weather or a problem with the car, for example — she’ll rearrange the lesson for another day, so you don’t lose it or any block hours. If a new time doesn’t suit you, anything you’ve paid for that lesson is refunded.
Blocks and intensive courses
- 5-hour and 10-hour blocks need to be used within 3 months of paying. If Hatifa cancels lessons and that makes it hard to use your hours in time, the 3 months is extended to make up for it.
- If you want to stop before you’ve used all your hours, tell Hatifa before the 3 months are up and the unused hours will be refunded. Because a block is discounted, the hours you’ve already had are charged at the standard rate of £36/hour, and you get back what’s left. For example, if you paid £170 for a 5-hour block and had 2 hours, you’d get back £170 − £72 = £98.
- Intensive courses are offered after an initial assessment of your driving, and the number of hours and the price are confirmed with you before you book. If you stop part-way through, unused hours are refunded at the course’s hourly rate.
Test day
- You book your driving test yourself, on GOV.UK. If you’d like to use Hatifa’s car, check the date and time with her before you book.
- Test-day car use includes a lesson beforehand and pickup and drop-off. The same 48-hour notice applies if you cancel or move your test and no longer need the car.
- If the DVSA cancels your test with less than 3 full working days’ notice, you can claim the cost of the car back from the DVSA.
- Hatifa may decline to provide her car for a test if she believes you aren’t yet ready to drive safely on test. She’ll always explain why.
Your right to cancel
If you book lessons without meeting Hatifa in person first — by phone, WhatsApp, email or through this website — you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of your booking being confirmed, without giving a reason.
- To cancel, tell Hatifa clearly by phone, WhatsApp or email before the 14 days are up. You can use the form below, but you don’t have to.
- We’ll refund what you’ve paid within 14 days of you telling us, by the same method you paid, or by bank transfer if you paid in cash.
- If you asked for lessons to start within the 14 days, you pay only for the lessons you’ve already had, at the price you booked them at, and get the rest back.
