What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Some are needed for a site to work; others, such as analytics cookies, are optional. This page lists everything this website stores in your browser, and anything it loads from other companies. For how we handle the details you give us, see our privacy policy.
Always on
These are needed for the site to work, or to remember a choice you’ve made, so they don’t need your consent. None of them is used to track you. The cookies are set by Squarespace, which hosts this website; the last two are stored by this site on your own device and never sent to us.
| Name | What it’s for | How long |
|---|---|---|
crumb | Protects the forms on this site against a type of attack called cross-site request forgery. | Until you close your browser |
RecentRedirect | Stops a page getting stuck redirecting in a loop. | 30 minutes |
Test, _dd_cookie_test, _dd_site_test | Check that your browser accepts cookies. | Deleted straight away, or when you close your browser |
ss_performanceCookiesAllowed, ss_marketingCookiesAllowed | Remember what you chose in the cookie banner. | 30 days |
sj-lang (local storage) | Remembers whether you chose English or Dari, if you use the language switch. | Until you clear your browser data |
sj-cal (session storage) | Remembers that you chose to show the availability calendar, so you aren’t asked again on every page. | Until you close the tab |
Analytics — only if you accept
If you accept analytics cookies in the cookie banner, Squarespace uses these to count visits and tell new visitors from returning ones, so Hatifa can see how the site is used overall — for example, how many people looked at the prices. They don’t tell us who you are, and we don’t use them for advertising. If you decline, they aren’t set.
| Name | What it’s for | How long |
|---|---|---|
ss_cid, ss_cpvisit, ss_cvr | Recognise a returning visitor and count their visits. | 2 years |
ss_cvisit, ss_cvt | Group the pages you look at into a single visit. | 30 minutes |
Content from other companies
- Google Calendar. The availability calendar on the Book a Lesson page comes from Google, and it only loads if you press “Show availability”. When it does, Google may set its own cookies — for example
NID, which Google uses to remember preferences and may use for advertising — and if you’re signed in to Google, your browser sends Google its usual cookies. See how Google uses cookies. - Google Fonts. The site’s fonts load from Google Fonts. No cookies are set, but Google receives your device’s internet (IP) address when a page loads.
- Our forms and reviews. The booking and review forms send what you type to Google, which runs the private spreadsheet behind them, and the Testimonials page fetches approved reviews from Google. Google receives your device’s internet address when this happens, and if you’re signed in to Google, your browser may send Google its usual cookies.
- WhatsApp. The WhatsApp link simply opens WhatsApp. Nothing loads from WhatsApp until you tap it.
Changing your choice
You can change your mind about analytics cookies at any time: use the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page, and the cookie banner will ask you again. If you had accepted, the analytics cookies are removed at the same time. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking the always-on cookies may stop parts of the site, such as the forms, from working.
